About Stable Rock

Stable Rock is an integrated professional services platform supporting over 500 clients including investment and asset managers, early-stage and midsize businesses, portfolio companies, and founders. We provide deep expertise across outsourced and fractional CFO services, accounting and bookkeeping, middle office and operations, regulatory and compliance, tax strategy and planning, IT, HR, insurance services, and AI-driven automation. Our work is hands-on and customized. Clients work directly with a team of experienced professionals who take the time to understand how their business or personal finances operate and provide practical support that adapts as needs change.

About the Role

Stable Rock is seeking a Senior Associate, Outsourced CFO & Accounting Services, to join our Investment Management department. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality fund accounting oversight, financial reporting, and outsourced CFO support to alternative investment clients, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and related management companies. The Senior Associate serves as a key client contact and is accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of fund financial operations, investor reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and partnership agreements. The role also supports financial strategy, operational improvement, and special projects for fund managers and their management entities. This position is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced setting and wants exposure to both fund operations and management company finance.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and review NAV calculations, capital account statements, management fees, carried interest, and incentive allocations.
  • Perform full cycle accounting for entities as required.
  • Maintain general ledger activity and ensure proper accounting treatment of complex investment transactions.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and coordinate year-end audit support.
  • Provide CFO support including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to clients, auditors, administrators, and other service providers.
  • Identify process improvements and support implementation of accounting systems and controls.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: 3–6+ years of private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, or alternative investment accounting experience.
  • Certifications: CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fund structures (LPs, GP/management companies).
    • Experience preparing NAVs, capital allocations, waterfalls, and investor reporting.
    • Experience in outsourced CFO or advisory environments.
    • Experience with management company accounting and operational finance functions preferred.
    • Ability to operate independently while collaborating within a small, high-performing team.
  • Software and Technology:
    • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Familiarity with general ledgers and fund accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Investran, Allvue, Geneva, or similar).

Why Stable Rock

  • Direct client access and advisory exposure
  • Broader scope beyond pure fund accounting (true CFO support)
  • Opportunity to shape processes rather than inherit rigid infrastructure
  • Visibility into fund launches, restructurings, and capital events
  • Growth path tied to performance, leadership, and client impact

Stable Rock is built for professionals who want more than a traditional accounting or advisory role. We are focused on meaningful client impact, intellectual engagement, and practical problem solving in a collaborative, high-trust environment. Our team operates with a service-first mindset, combining technical expertise with real-world business understanding. We value professionals who take initiative in managing and improving processes, pursue continuous learning, and work directly with clients to help them navigate operational and financial complexity.

Location

Pay

Highly competitive base salary ranging from $70,000 to $100,000, based on experience and location, with eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage (employee-only premiums paid at 100%)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Unlimited paid time off policy
  • Hybrid work flexibility to support professional and personal balance
