Sr Assoc, Electrical Engineer (Ashaway, RI)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mixed-signal Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWAs) from requirements through released, production-ready hardware.
• Derive requirements; select components; perform circuit design and analysis; and define circuit-level verification and test methods.
• Review Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layouts and collaborate with manufacturers to resolve fabrication and assembly questions.
• Design or specify test methods, automated test equipment, test sets, and cable harnesses used to verify electronic hardware.
• Perform hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, test, checkout, and redesign activities for prototypes and production hardware.
• Support production operations by diagnosing electrical issues and coordinating timely, configuration-controlled corrective actions.
• Work with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, supply-chain, and program teams through design, integration, and test.
• Support engineering estimates, schedules, design documentation, and internal and external design-review material.
• Support procurement by evaluating technical alternatives and addressing component obsolescence or availability issues.
• Work onsite in Ashaway, Rhode Island. Occasional business travel may be required to other L3Harris sites and customer test facilities.
• Be eligible to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret security clearance for continued employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Two or more years of electrical engineering experience in a product-development environment.
• Experience with mixed-signal circuit board design and development, including requirements derivation, component selection, circuit design and analysis, test, and troubleshooting.
• Experience moving electronic designs from concept through verification, release, integration, and production support.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly in written documentation, design reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
• United States citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret security clearance for continued employment.

Skills

• Experience developing and simulating firmware (VHDL) for FPGAs (AMD and/or Microchip) and with FPGA design tools
• Experience with Siemens Xpedition or Cadence OrCAD
• Experience with Xilinx/AMD or Microchip FPGAs and FPGA design tools
• Experience with electronics used in maritime, defense, or other high-reliability applications.
• Experience designing automated test equipment, test sets, or cable harnesses.
• Familiarity with configuration management, engineering change control, and production documentation.
• Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, failure analysis, and corrective redesign.
• Experience with version control software such as Git and program issue/task tracking tools such as Jira
• Experience with underwater electronics, sensors and related environmental requirements
