About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Architect to join a global engineering team responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Architectural systems for data centers, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, telecommunications and other disciplines.
  • Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization.
  • Conceive, initiate, and lead projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation, and implementation.
  • Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions.
  • Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges.
  • Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures, and countries.
  • Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, schematics and diagrams, and reports.
  • Understand and safeguard implementation of the Architectural Basis of Design (BOD) with constant auditing.
  • Drive standardization in the data center Architectural space.
  • Develop strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
  • Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well-defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects.
  • Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans.
  • Able to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
  • Maintain and host technical Architectural forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center architectural systems.
  • Provide support and mentorship for the whole of the Data Center Engineering community.
  • Have fun and offer creative out-of-the-box solutions.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • 4+ years of project management or project lead work including RFQ/RFP process, selecting engineering teams, developing budgets, coordinating multiple consultant teams and facilitating meetings experience.
  • Experience using one or more of the following technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp, KeyShot, etc.) to deliver high quality models and designs.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).

Skills

  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually.
