About the role

Join the Classification and Policy Platform team to build technology that automatically monitors and classifies the billions of products in Amazon’s catalog, ensuring compliance with legal regulations. This role focuses on developing machine learning solutions at Amazon scale to maintain a trusted and safe catalog for customers.

You will work with cutting-edge machine learning algorithms on large datasets, build scalable applications on Amazon Cloud, and collaborate across teams to drive innovation in product search, filtering, and document understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new features and machine-learned models, including state-of-the-art deep learning for search matching, ranking, filtering, and document understanding.
  • Conduct and coordinate process development to streamline model development workflows.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to expand product insights using data, design experiments, and prioritize high-impact projects for roadmaps.
  • Provide technical and scientific guidance to team members.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and colleagues from science, engineering, and business backgrounds.
  • Act as a cultural leader, ensuring teams use data to inform decisions impacting customers.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of applied research experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, numpy, or scipy.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems like Hadoop or Spark.

Pay

Base salary range: $167,100 – $226,100 USD annually (USA, WA, Seattle).

Additional compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
