About The Role

We are seeking a Senior IAM Operations Engineer to enhance security, streamline identity lifecycle management, and improve access governance. This role will also focus modernization of Operations by leveraging AI/ML-based toolings to optimize identity analytics, support identity threat detection, and patternize recurring end-user issues by building durable operational toolings. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IAM Operations, security automation, and AI-powered identity intelligence while ensuring compliance with security policies and industry regulations to ensure high operational SLAs are met for Uber global workforce.

What The Candidate Will Do

  • Operate, monitor, and optimize IAM platforms supporting Uber's global workforce, including Okta, SailPoint IIQ, CyberArk, Active Directory, Azure AD, AWS IAM, Google Cloud IAM, and Oracle Cloud IAM.
  • Manage core IAM services such as SSO, MFA, PAM, user lifecycle management, access provisioning, de-provisioning, role management, and access reviews.
  • Troubleshoot complex IAM issues, improve operational SLAs, and reduce recurring end-user problems through durable tooling and process improvements.
  • Build and enhance IAM automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Java, REST APIs, Terraform, and workflow integrations.
  • Use analytics, automation, and AI/ML-based capabilities to improve identity insights, detect anomalies, support risk-based access decisions, and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with Security, IT, Engineering, and Compliance teams to align IAM operations with business, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support IAM compliance activities, including audit evidence, control testing, access governance, and remediation for frameworks such as SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST, and ISO 27001.
  • Lead IAM modernization projects and mentor junior engineers to strengthen operational excellence and identity security.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in IAM operations, security administration, identity governance, or security automation.
  • Hands-on experience with IAM platforms such as Okta, SailPoint, CyberArk, Microsoft Azure AD, AWS IAM, Google Cloud IAM, or Oracle Cloud IAM.
  • Strong experience supporting SSO, MFA, PAM, lifecycle management, directory services, and access governance processes.
  • Experience building automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Java, REST APIs, Terraform, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OIDC, LDAP, Kerberos, and RADIUS.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex IAM issues in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with security, audit, and compliance frameworks such as SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST, and ISO 27001.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML-driven IAM analytics, user behavior analytics, identity threat detection, or risk-based authentication.
  • Experience with SIEM, SOAR, RPA, and security automation platforms.
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting for IAM operations, access governance, SLA tracking, and risk insights.
  • Experience designing or operating cloud IAM controls across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.
  • Experience improving IAM operational processes through automation, tooling, metrics, and service ownership.
  • Ability to mentor engineers, influence cross-functional partners, and drive projects from ambiguity to execution.
