About the role
Warner Music Group's Global Business Services (GBS) is home to the finance operations, legal, and administrative functions that provide critical support and best-in-class services to our global Finance labels and affiliates. The US Participations team, based out of Nashville and fully remote, supports all U.S. record labels and artist & label services divisions.
Responsibilities
- Run the preparation and analysis of sophisticated participation profit-share and distribution financial statements.
- Lead fiscal month-end close tasks, including complex true-ups, reconciliations, and expense accruals.
- Act as the team’s primary “Variance Detective” and quality gatekeeper, interrogating data fluctuations and reviewing peer statements.
- Translate complex artist and label legal agreements into functional financial models and compile vast sets of transactional data for statement reporting, budgets, and cash forecasts.
- Proactively investigate artist inquiries, data issues, or audit claims, focusing on mitigating financial risk.
- Take an active role in team development by guiding analysts, providing feedback, and facilitating training sessions.
- Contribute to the evolution of the department by identifying inefficiencies and implementing technology-driven solutions, championing automation initiatives and process improvements.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required (Accounting or Finance preferred) with 3-5 years of professional experience in a complex financial capacity.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, comfortable with complex calculations and large data sets.
- Solid grasp of financial accounting principles and their application to P&L statements, reconciliations, fiscal close processes, and internal controls.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of taking full ownership of work.
- Elite communicator, able to distill complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for internal customers.
- Experience in Music, Media, or Entertainment (specifically in Participations, Royalties, or Audit).
- Proficiency with SAP S4 Hana, SAP Analysis for Office, BI, and SharePoint.
- Natural technical curiosity and digital innovation, leveraging Generative AI tools to automate workflows and drive efficiency in finance operations.
- Proven success working in a fully remote, Shared Services environment.
