Sr Analyst, Corporate Finance & Expense Management

About the role

This role is an opportunity to help modernize how Corporate Finance turns data into insight. The Sr Analyst, Corporate Finance & Expense Management will support a centralized reporting environment across Corporate Finance and OCEO groups, strengthening professional reporting, improving data visualization, and delivering sophisticated analytics through Power BI and related tools. It offers broad exposure across Corporate Finance and the chance to shape future reporting capabilities while building bench strength for continued growth within the function.

This position is based in Columbus, OH, and requires the hired associate to reside within 35 miles of One Nationwide Plaza. The role is on a SuccessFlex basis, requiring in-office work two days per week according to the department's current schedule.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization, and Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Responsibilities

• Develop effective Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics that improve reporting capabilities across Corporate Finance.
• Translate business needs into practical, user-friendly reporting solutions that strengthen insight generation, data quality, and decision support.
• Build and maintain reporting processes, tools, and views to help the business better visualize, consume, and act on financial information.
• Support consolidated reporting across multiple Corporate Finance and OCEO groups and elevate the sophistication and consistency of reporting outputs.
• Work with large and complex data sets to identify trends, surface meaningful insights, and improve how information is delivered to stakeholders.
• Partner effectively with finance and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, gather requirements, and deliver practical, intuitive, and actionable solutions.
• Make timely decisions within the context of assigned tasks and drive objectives to completion.
• Communicate work output effectively and treat others with respect while sharing honest opinions.
• Ask the right questions to understand root causes, weigh the relevance and accuracy of information, and generate alternatives for leadership requests.
• Support organizational changes, including new technologies and initiatives, and adapt to new methods that improve work.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (degree preferred).
• Typically, four or more years of related experience in finance, accounting, insurance, or a similar field; product or business unit-specific experience is preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience building formulas, setting up models, and structuring analysis in a scalable way.
• Demonstrated experience with Power BI or Tableau, with the ability to create dashboards and reporting that drive clarity and decision-making.
• Experience using Power Query and working with large data sets; broader programming or technical skills are a plus.
• Strong finance acumen and the ability to connect technical reporting work to practical business and expense-management needs.
• Ability to communicate clearly, gather business requirements, and translate them into reporting outputs useful to non-technical stakeholders.
• A proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable approach, with interest in helping a growing team improve how Corporate Finance reporting is delivered and scaled.
• Professional knowledge of statistical analysis, financial statement preparation, budget preparation, and related business operations.
• Familiarity with GAAP and statutory accounting practices, as well as insurance/financial service business requirements, is preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills for internal and external contacts.
• Ability to interpret financial information and operate personal computers with related financial and business software.
• Ability to work in project and special studies teams.

Pursuit of CPA or other related technical insurance designation is desirable. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence.

Pay

The national salary range for this role is $62,500.00–$115,500.00. The expected starting salary range is $62,500.00–$93,500.00. Placement within this range will be determined by factors such as skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as market conditions.
