About the role

As a Sr. Advisor Area Development at ALSAC, you have the incredible opportunity to be a driving force behind our mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Your role will play a pivotal part in ensuring that we continue to grow giving and exceed revenue goals, enabling us to provide cutting-edge medical care and research that changes lives. This role supports key Southern California fundraising initiatives, including Evening of Hope and other high-value donor and volunteer engagement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Visionary: In collaboration with area leadership, develop and execute iconic signature event experiences that transcend expectations, from intimate gatherings to grand galas. Drive this strategy through the recruitment and cultivation of high-profile committees.
  • Organizational Pro: Manage projects autonomously, with an eye for detail.
  • Cultivate Relationships with Purpose: Utilize your exceptional interpersonal and relationship development skills to forge deep connections with corporate partners and individuals, fostering relationships that extend beyond transactions. Engage through face-to-face interactions and strategic communication to recruit new corporate sponsors and nurture existing partnerships, generating a cycle of support that sustains our mission.
  • Collaborate for Impact: Team up with internal stakeholders to achieve defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and use insights to guide necessary adjustments. Ensure every action aligns with our mission and maximizes outcomes.
  • Empower Fundraising Initiatives: Leverage your fundraising expertise to empower volunteers and donors. Provide motivation, direction, and resources through personal visits, written correspondence, and electronic platforms to ensure their success in driving fundraising initiatives.
  • Strategize for Growth: Develop compelling and purpose-driven cultivation and stewardship strategies to enhance engagement and philanthropic contributions from St. Jude donors, fortifying the revenue programs that underpin our lifesaving work.
  • Champion Donor Relationships: Build, maintain, and manage a blended portfolio of 75-100 corporate, individual leadership annual donors, and leadership volunteers. Manage a diverse portfolio of corporate, individual, major, and leadership annual donors and volunteers. Strategically nurture these relationships to retain support and foster growth in contributions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with program owners in Development to enhance donor and volunteer relationship management. Integrate stewardship, financial analysis, and program alignment to amplify impact.
  • Data-Driven Impact: Leverage a high-level understanding of data systems to drive effective stewardship strategies. Analyze donor interactions and engagement details to tailor personalized touchpoints, ensuring supporters receive accurate, relevant, and timely communications.
  • Elevate Our Presence: Represent ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in all interactions, leaving a positive imprint that reflects our commitment to excellence and the impactful work of our fundraising organization.

Requirements

  • Develop multiple high-value ($1M+ revenue-producing events including dinners, galas, golf tournaments) with growth rates and expense ratios assigned by territory and area leadership.
  • Compelling Communication: Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and influentially, whether in writing or speaking.
  • Relationship Building: Strong donor-centric focus with the capacity to build enduring and fruitful relationships. Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate to donors and volunteers.
  • Innovative Collaboration: Work effectively with diverse teams and individuals. Collaborate with internal area and enterprise teams, volunteers, and stakeholders to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors. Conduct prospect research and develop sponsorship proposals.
  • Experience in Philanthropy: Relational event experience with committees, boards, and corporate engagement, including strategic planning and execution of premier gala events.
  • Senior Role: Hold a senior role requiring strong interpersonal skills and a strategic mindset focused on increasing revenue and engaging volunteers and new donors creatively.
  • Corporate Sector Relationships: Ideally possess existing relationships within the corporate sector and the ability to prospect new corporate sponsors and donors.
  • Executive Volunteer Leadership: Experience managing high-level executive volunteer leadership committees.
  • 6 or more years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, customer service, or sales. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Travel: 15%–20%, including some nights and weekends, and periodic travel to Memphis, TN for enterprise events.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.

This position will be based at our Territory Office in Los Angeles, CA and will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range is $78,000 - $113,000. This range is an estimate offered in good faith and considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. The range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. At ALSAC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the specifics of each case.
