Sr Advanced Test Engineer
About the role
As a Sr Advanced Test Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will design, develop, integrate, and maintain highly complex test consoles used for testing reaction wheels and control moment gyros. You will contribute to both technical and project management aspects, delivering test engineering products to meet production and new product development needs. This role is 100% onsite at our Glendale, AZ site, reporting to the Sr Systems Eng Manager.
Responsibilities
- Electronics Design
- Design digital and analog signal conditioning circuits
- Select COTS hardware for test consoles
- Complete drawings to document test console designs
- Support the build of test consoles
- Mentor, train, and support electrical technicians in test console assembly and sustainment
- Software
- Develop manufacturing test software in LabVIEW
- Govern the configuration management system for test console releases
- Identify architecture efficiencies and implement software improvements
- Engineering/Other
- Manage and release engineering packages through development and sustaining lifecycles
- Develop schedules, communicate risks, and manage on-time delivery to program milestones
- Develop test systems with DfX considerations
- Administer issues from identification through triage, debug, and permanent corrective action (hardware and software)
Travel: up to 5%
Requirements
You MUST HAVE:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, developing hardware and automated software solutions
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
- U.S. citizenship due to contractual requirements (no sponsorship available)
Qualifications
We VALUE:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience architecting and designing test solutions for production environments in LabVIEW
- Experience with automated test consoles, including:
- Digital and analog signal conditioning circuit design
- Data acquisition hardware deployment (PC and rack-based)
- Mechanical transducers (angle, rate, torque, accelerometers, load cells, encoders)
- Industrial computer configuration and deployment
- Test equipment rack development and documentation
- Communication busses (MIL-STD-1553, RS422/485, RS232, Ethernet, GPIB)
- Practical experience configuring test equipment (power distribution units, UPSs, power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, function generators, DMMs, switching networks, etc.)
- Programming with real-time operating systems
- Experience developing automated test software and scripts (TestStand, LabVIEW, Tcl, PERL, Python, etc.)
- Knowledge of test engineering architecture best practices and design fundamentals
- Experience interfacing and developing tools for manufacturing data
- Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques (concept evaluation to production obsolescence)
- Industry experience with product lifecycle management tools (TeamCenter, Windchill) and test system documentation (Visio, Solidworks Electrical, CATIA, Altium, OrCAD/Cadence)
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques (5-why, fishbone, 8-D, cause map, etc.)
- Self-motivated individuals who work with little supervision and take initiative
- FPGA programming (desired)
- Cost Account Management experience in SAP
