About the role

This position is responsible for accurately performing the pre-services functions for outpatient diagnostic procedures and completing the scheduling, registration and insurance verification process.

Responsibilities

• Correctly identify patient and maintain accurate patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Collect applicable financial information including payment for the patient/guarantor.
• Obtain insurance information, benefits, and authorizations for services provided.
• Calculate insurance co-pay, deductible and co-insurance.
• Obtain medical and financial consents, secure proper signatures on required documents.
• Provide required information to patient concerning the Patient Rights, Privacy and Advance Care Directives.
• Schedule all outpatient procedures in a timely and accurate manner, based on policy and protocol.

Qualifications

• Reading and numerical competency.
• College business and/or accounting courses preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of patient scheduling and healthcare patient registration required.
• Working knowledge of third party payer requirements, healthcare billing, and strong customer service experience with demonstrated service excellence.
• Ability to prioritize and perform work in an organized, efficient and effective manner without constant supervision or direction.
• Must be able to handle detail work and work accurately and rapidly.
• Experience in basic computer, internet, data entry collections and medical terminology preferred.
• Must be able to calculate, accept variety of types of payment and process daily batches with accurate cash reconciliation.
