About the role
This position is responsible for completing, preparing, balancing and reconciling general ledger accounts and journal entries impacted by client transactions. It also involves providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Completes daily accounting reconciliations/general ledger balancing in relation to loan accounting transactions.
- Processes and analyzes organizational fees.
- Creates and reviews accounting system entries using the appropriate general ledger accounts, procedures and accounting principles, for routine and moderately complex transactions.
- Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure monthly balances.
- Provides technical support to team members and/or vendors regarding issues with general ledger, client transactions, subsidiary accounts and financial systems in accordance with department and company policies and procedures.
- Solves issues in a timely manner.
- Maintains a responsive and efficient inbox, answering questions via email or phone.
- Assists in other general accounting functions and department mailings as needed.
- Uses available information on accounting systems and creates processes and/or distributes various department and management reports used in ongoing decision-making.
- Aids in identifying trends and/or interpreting report information.
- Creates various spreadsheets for data inputs, allocations, accruals, and calculations that impact the financial statements.
- Supports the contributions of the team by working independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
Requirements

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
- Advanced knowledge of basic accounting and/or finance principles.
- Advanced knowledge of IRS rules and guidelines.
- Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and other related accounting and/or report writing software applications.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
- Able to remain objective in balancing business needs and risk.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.

Pay
$60,700 - $91,500 USD
