Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reporting schedules in compliance with IFRS to support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Prepare annual U.S. GAAP financial statements for U.S. legal entities
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with internal policies and external requirements
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors, including coordination of audit schedules and responses to audit requests
  • Prepare comprehensive audit deliverables, including preparation of quarterly analysis and fulfillment of documentation requests to support quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external auditors
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management
  • Lead internal control processes and champion continuous accounting process improvement initiatives
  • Possess cross-functional partnership with Asset, Legal, and Commercial teams to understand transactions and ensure appropriate accounting treatment
  • Research, assess, and document technical accounting matters under both IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with emphasis on upstream oil & gas topics including asset retirement obligations, impairments, revenue recognition, joint arrangements and acquisitions/divestitures
  • Draft accounting memos and support positions on complex or non-routine transactions
  • Maintain awareness of new accounting standards and assess their impacts to the business

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, active CPA license required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with upstream or integrated oil and gas industry experience
  • Public accounting experience (audit or accounting advisory), with oil & gas clients preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience utilizing an enterprise-grade ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Experience with legal entity financial statements and multi-entity structures
  • Exposure to acquisitions, divestitures, impairments, and reserve-based accounting concepts
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to see issues from a “big picture” perspective
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, able to interact skillfully with senior leadership and external auditors
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
