Sr. Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, NY, for a contract-to-permanent position. In this role, you will play a key part in analyzing historical financial transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical accounting records to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies.
• Prepare and post accurate journal entries to maintain compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring audit readiness and transparency.
• Manage accounting tasks across international entities, including handling multi-currency transactions and intercompany activity.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items to ensure clarity in account activity.
• Contribute to financial cleanup efforts across multiple entities and international operations.
• Document findings and provide recommendations to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Utilize NetSuite software to manage complex accounting tasks and resolve historical transaction issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and compliance.
• Assist with month-end close processes, including general ledger and account reconciliation tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong analytical skills to review historical transactions and resolve discrepancies.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel functions for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage investigative accounting tasks with minimal supervision.
• Experience with NetSuite software is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting practices in detail-oriented services or multinational organizations.
• Knowledge of multi-entity operations, including multi-currency transactions and intercompany reconciliations.
• Previous experience in accounting cleanup or remediation projects is a plus.
