Sr. Accountant

About the role

Our client in the Galleria area is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis for a reconciliation project. This role is 100% onsite and will be only handling balance sheet reconciliations, strong attention to detail, experience doing research and strong Excel skill are needed.

Responsibilities

• Investigate outstanding balance sheet items and resolve discrepancies by tracing underlying accounting activity across multiple accounts and periods.
• Perform detailed reconciliations of general ledger and balance sheet accounts, including cash-related accounts and other key financial areas.
• Analyze intercompany transactions among five active entities to ensure debits, credits, and eliminations are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and post journal entries that support accrual-based accounting and month-end close activities.
• Review historical accounting records to identify unreconciled balances and determine the root causes of variances.
• Support the monthly close process by organizing reconciliation schedules and maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
• Use Excel to evaluate large data sets, compare account activity, and present clear reconciliation findings.
• Work within Computerease to research transactions, validate financial data, and improve ledger accuracy.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior-level accounting role with strong responsibility for general ledger accuracy.
• Hands-on expertise in month-end close, journal entries, and accrual accounting.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Experience reviewing and resolving intercompany accounting activity across multiple entities.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze detailed financial data efficiently.
• Ability to investigate accounting issues independently and identify practical resolutions in a deadline-driven environment.
