Sr. Accountant

About the role

The Marmon Group LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the corporate accounting team. Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller at the corporate office, this role is highly visible and essential.

Responsibilities

• Aid in leading the monthly corporate financial close process
• Manage a direct report
• Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other tasks
• Serve as a liaison between Marmon’s groups/business units and corporate accounting
• Aid with quarterly financial reporting and supplemental schedules for Berkshire Hathaway, Inc.
• Assist with accounting and financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Review structured financial data provided by subsidiaries to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Affirm compliance with Marmon accounting policies and internal controls; manage the associated policy center
• Aid with the accounts payable and expense reimbursement and 1099 preparation processes
• Contribute to ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and technical accounting projects
• Participate in special projects and process automation as directed by the Assistant Controller

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA required
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience, some public accounting experience required
• Some project and personnel management experience preferred
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in Excel
• Experience with Sage X3, OneStream, and/or Alteryx a plus
• Proven knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, and technical accounting research capabilities
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• A "roll up your sleeves" attitude and willingness to do the day-to-day work
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Passion for collaboration, learning, and process improvements

Qualifications

• BS degree in Accounting
• CPA required

Skills

• Project and personnel management experience
• Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Sage X3, OneStream, and/or Alteryx experience
• Proven knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, and technical accounting research
