Primary Responsibilities
- Perform and review journal entries for payroll activity, accruals, prepaids, the related account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Measure record and track foreign currency translation impacts.
- Balance intercompany activity monthly.
- Aid in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including P&L statements and balance sheets.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements.
- Collaborate with operational departments to capture accurate financial data.
- Support audits (internal and external) and regulatory reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements for accounting procedures.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, accounting standards, and energy sector trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 3–7+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with energy or utilities exposure.
- Strong understanding of GAAP; governmental accounting knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems (Kinetic, CaseWare).
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with data visualization or BI tools is a bonus.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly.
- Understanding of fixed asset and project accounting (common in energy).
- Knowledge of energy operations and cost accounting (fuel, generation, transmission, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
