SQL Server DBA
About the role
The SQL Database Administrator will support the Social Security Administration by administering, designing, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases across multiple domains, servers, and instances.
Responsibilities
- Administer SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
- Create, document, and implement SQL Server database and development standards.
- Collaborate with customers, project managers, architects, and developers to define database requirements and structures.
- Design, develop, and integrate complex SQL processes.
- Perform troubleshooting, tuning, and optimization using profilers, analyzers, and execution plans.
- Create and optimize tables, views, indexes, constraints, triggers, stored procedures, and user defined functions.
- Configure and manage SQL Server security including roles, permissions, auditing, and policy management.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot AlwaysOn Availability Groups, including adding/removing databases.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
- Provide after hours on call support and perform production deployments during non peak hours.
- Independently research and resolve database issues; produce clear documentation.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain US Public Trust Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree +5 years IT experience
- 5+ years working with relational databases
- 5+ years in SQL Server database engineering, design, or development
- 5+ years with Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2017 (later versions preferred)
- Strong T SQL development experience (tables, views, indexes, constraints, triggers, stored procedures)
- Expertise with performance tuning using profilers, query analyzers, and execution plans
- Deep understanding of database and application performance optimization
- Experience configuring distributed availability groups
- Strong ability to administer SQL Server using SSMS and T SQL
Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain US Public Trust Clearance
Bachelors Degree +5 years IT experience
5+ years working with relational databases
5+ years in SQL Server database engineering, design, or development
5+ years with Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2017 (later versions preferred)
Strong T SQL development experience (tables, views, indexes, constraints, triggers, stored procedures)
Expertise with performance tuning using profilers, query analyzers, and execution plans
Deep understanding of database and application performance optimization
Experience configuring distributed availability groups
Strong ability to administer SQL Server using SSMS and T SQL
Skills
- Experience with Ansible automation tools
- Experience with AWS or Azure
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Bitbucket, JIRA)
- Data modeling experience using tools such as ERwin
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot
