SQL Server Database Administrator III

Location: Houston, Texas 77002 (On-Site) – 6+ months contract with chances of further extensions

About the role

We are seeking an experienced database professional to support enterprise-scale SQL Server environments across development, test, production, and disaster recovery platforms. We are also looking for hands-on open-source database experience, cloud familiarity, and strong automation skills to help keep critical systems stable, secure, and high-performing.

Responsibilities

• Manage SQL Server databases across development, test, production, and DR environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Administer and support PostgreSQL environments while providing exposure to additional RDBMS platforms as needed.
• Perform backups, restores, disaster recovery testing, capacity planning, and performance monitoring to support reliability and recoverability.
• Troubleshoot performance, blocking, connectivity, integrity, and high-availability issues while supporting Always-On AGs, failover clustering, and Distributed Availability Groups.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Strong expertise with SQL Server 2016–2022; SQL Server 2025 experience is a plus.
• Direct hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL or MongoDB within production environments.
• Experience with Azure and AWS database services, VMware-based virtualized environments, and scripting with T-SQL and PowerShell; Python and Ansible exposure is preferred.
• Eligibility to permanently work in the US and at minimum a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
