SQL Developer

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA or Lafayette, LA office; a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable relational schemas, tables, views, and constraints in PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Write and optimize complex queries, triggers, CTEs, and stored procedures/routines using dialect‑specific features (e.g., PL/pgSQL).
• Design, implement, and monitor robust ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from disparate sources into analytical databases or data warehouses.
• Conduct query optimization, configure execution plans, manage indexing strategies (B‑Tree, GIN, Hash, etc.), and resolve deadlocks or performance bottlenecks.
• Support integration of relational systems with document‑oriented stores, leveraging familiarity with MongoDB for unstructured or semi‑structured data workflows.
• Establish data security protocols, manage user roles and permissions, and collaborate on backup and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering and data teams to ensure high performance, data integrity, and cross‑platform availability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong, hands‑on production experience engineering databases with PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Proven experience building data pipelines using ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, AWS Glue) or custom scripting.
• Conceptual and practical understanding of NoSQL database architecture, specifically MongoDB, including basic querying and JSON/BSON document structures.
• Proficiency with database management utilities such as pgAdmin or MySQL Workbench and version‑control systems like Git.
• Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with a track record of diagnosing complex performance issues and tuning slow queries.

Compensation

A reasonable estimate of the current U.S. compensation range for this role is $89,600.00 – $198,400.00.
