About the Role

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Sprinkler Field Service Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assist higher-level and more experienced technicians (e.g., Project & Service Specialists) in performing day-to-day tasks. You will act as a "second set of hands" for technicians and handle CSP and less complex or smaller installation tasks. This position supports the completion of CSP, service calls, and quoted work orders, including assisting with installations, servicing existing systems, and system start-up or check-out.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to higher-level and more experienced Project and Service Specialists, including installs, tests, repairs, and servicing of systems and equipment such as sprinkler, fire alarm, and life safety systems, with guidance as needed.
  • Refer complex issues to higher-level colleagues.
  • Drive and operate equipment, including bucket trucks.
  • Read basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications.
  • Use standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Act as "our customer’s best service provider" to ensure Convergint remains the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance.
  • Administer functionality tests on equipment such as cameras and door hardware.
  • Deliver parts and complete other odd jobs as requested.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and product improvements.
  • Assist with the execution of the technical aspects of multiple projects, including start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Act as backup for other areas, such as the Fire Test and Inspect department, to maintain a high chargeable rate.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Developing technical skills and experience related to sprinkler, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Ability to develop basic programming skills and troubleshoot problems.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, crimpers).
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Frequent visits to jobsites are required; minimal overnight travel may be needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills, including exposure to MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred (but not required): 3 months of previous relevant field experience.
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following industries: construction, water-based systems, electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
