About the role

The Sports Science Coordinator is responsible for developing and planning performance support strategies across the University of Oregon Athletic Department. The Sport Science Coordinator leads the development and execution of systems and processes to enhance student-athlete readiness, performance, and recovery. These monitoring systems and processes will be imbedded within and around weight-room, conditioning, and practice sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics programs, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, BIG 10 Conference and the NCAA.
  • Work harmoniously within a multi-disciplinary high performance environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in sport and exercise science or related field.
  • Two years of professional experience providing applied sports science services in a collegiate, professional, or elite athletics environment.
  • Experience operating and managing sports science technologies in a high-performance environment (player tracking, force plate, VBT, ForceFrame, Nordboard, timing gates, motion capture).
  • Experience working with athlete management systems and data analysis tools including but not limited to SmartaBase (Teamworks), R, Python, etc.
  • Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of periodized programs for athletes.
  • Experience in sport science support within the return to play process.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Conveys enthusiasm and demonstrates a communication style that fosters collaboration and enhances program engagement for members of the performance team.

Skills

  • Accreditation within the sports science discipline (NSCA CPSS, BASES HPSA, ESSA ASpS).
  • Strength and conditioning certification (NSCA – CSCS).
  • Formal research experience in sport and exercise science.
  • Experience building and managing data management, analysis, and visualization workflows within an athlete management system (Smartabase preferred).
  • Technical skills in data management, analysis, and visualization (R Studio, Python, PowerBI, etc.).
  • Experience working with a diverse range of athletes.
