About the role

KING TV in Seattle is looking for an experienced Sports Producer with a sports background who can create unique and well-written stories, along with outstanding photography and editing skills. This person will work independently and efficiently to produce our weekly “Kraken Home Ice” show as part of our partnership with the NHL's Seattle Kraken. The successful candidate will be our main point person with the team, creating memorable content and working closely with our other professional sports partners including the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners. This producer will also line-produce sportscasts and sports specials on linear and streaming platforms, as well as regularly create content for digital apps and social accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly hockey show in conjunction with Executive Sports Producer
  • Develop story ideas from sports partnerships to execute within newscasts
  • Identify, write, and produce sports stories and packages
  • Research for facts and credibility
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics to enhance stories
  • Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content
  • Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner
  • Shooting and editing involved
  • Fill in as line-producer for traditional sportscasts and our daily talk show, The Ultimate Seattle Sports Show
  • Consistently produce mobile shorts for our mobile apps, social accounts, linear shows, and YouTube

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • 3-5 years producing experience preferred
  • Strong sports, and specifically hockey knowledge is preferred
  • Experience shooting and editing sports preferred
  • Must possess solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills
  • Strong writing and production skills
  • ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics experience is preferred
  • Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines
  • Knowledge of KING/KONG Seattle market a plus

Shift could require holidays, weekends, and travel.

Pay

$31.25—$36.06 USD per hour
