WBIR-TV Knoxville, the affiliate, is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. We are interested in finding a journalist who can create unique, memorable, and well-written stories, share them on all platforms with outstanding photography and unforgettable editing, and embrace multi-platform journalism beyond traditional TV news methods.

A current driver's license and the ability to operate a news-gathering vehicle are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing or breaking news situations.
• Develop story ideas and mine the community to find sources who keep you informed about local events and ideas.
• Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework while ensuring factual accuracy and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources to elevate reporting quality.
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit on-air and online content within deadlines.
• Use creative production techniques (e.g., graphics, viewer pictures, webcam interviews) to enhance stories.
• Leverage social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.

Requirements

• 0-1 years of reporting experience preferred.
• Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making.
• Strong writing, production, and tease-writing abilities.
• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics is preferred.
• Ability to work under constant deadlines and handle live breaking news situations calmly.
• Proven ability to create social and digital content.
• Knowledge of Knoxville is a plus.
