Sports Medicine Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery Clinic - Full Time - New Orleans

About the role

We're seeking a Sports Medicine Assistant to join our Orthopedic Surgery Clinic in New Orleans. This role provides assistant services to one or more physician(s) and works independently with patients at times, under the direct supervision of a physician.

Responsibilities

• Assists the physician in the clinic and operative setting (works independently and when required under the direct supervision of a physician).
• Performs telephone and general office duties.
• Assists physician with research related projects.
• Participates in professional development and required training.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Allied Health
• 3 years related experience, including experience evaluating and assessing patient injury
• Certified Orthopedic Technologist (OTC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
• Preferred - BOC certification
• License in the state of practice
• Successful completion of a SMA Residency or equivalent program

Skills and Abilities

• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to travel throughout and between facilities.
• Able to work a flexible work schedule.
