Sports Manager

Full-time, exempt position based in San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

About the Role

Responsible for leading community sports and school-based inclusion programs across an assigned region. This role focuses on expanding participation, managing events, supporting athletes and volunteers, and building strong relationships with schools, community partners, and local programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage regional sports programming, competitions, tournaments, and community events, including logistics, facilities, equipment, registration, compliance, and volunteer coordination.
• Recruit, train, and support athletes, Unified Partners, coaches, volunteers, and community partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with schools, districts, recreation departments, athletic programs, and community organizations.
• Support school inclusion initiatives by tracking engagement, providing resources, and helping schools implement inclusive sports and leadership programs.
• Oversee volunteer teams, interns, and event committees to ensure successful program execution.
• Assist with program budgets, reporting, inventory, contracts, and administrative processes.
• Promote community engagement, fundraising initiatives, health programs, and athlete leadership opportunities.
• Travel regularly throughout the assigned region to support events, partners, and programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Education, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in youth programming, sports administration, recreation, or community-based programs.
• Experience managing volunteers, staff, or community programs.
• Strong communication, public speaking, organization, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or inclusive programming preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000–67,000 per year, depending on geographic location, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
