Sports Coach
About the role
County instructional sports programs offer activities in various sports and games for youth participants. The rate of pay varies based on experience level.
Responsibilities
- Background in Recreation or Physical Education
- Instructor I: Background in coaching sports skills or leading children’s activities, history of participation in specific sport. Meets Coaches Registry requirements.
- Instructor II: CPR and First Aid certification required within six months of employment (except camps).
- Instructor III: Relevant specialized experience and/or certification in respective sport.
- Instructor IV: Five years of experience or significant credentials (playing awards, professional athlete status).
Requirements
- At least 16 years old
- At least 18 years old
- At least 20 years old
- Experience working in sports, recreation, or physical education
- Experience teaching children ages 19 months to 13 years of age, the different fundamentals of various instructional sports
- Flexible hours during the day, afternoon, and/or weekend hours
- Certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid, and/or Coaching Certifications)

Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience:
- Paraprofessional: Sports Instructor I - Minimum Wage
- Professional: Sports Instructor II - $16 - $18/hour, Sports Instructor III - $18 - $21/hour, Sports Instructor IV - $21 - $32/hour
Schedule
Programs and leagues operate Monday-Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm or 3:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm, or 1:00pm-5:00pm, and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm. Flexible hours are required.
