About the role
The Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach position is a part-time role averaging 15-25 hours per week. The position requires availability for morning, evening, and weekend hours, including home and away competitions.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all job expectations as outlined in the Associated Students/SDSU Sport Club Coaching Agreement
- Supervises team practices, training, competitions and travel
- Ensures individual and program compliance with all policies and procedures of Associated Students/SDSU and Aztec Recreation
- Ensures safety of all team members, assistant coaches, and equipment is the top priority at all times
- Affords assistance in recruiting team members
- Assists with the design and implementation of practice schedules and training schemes for morning and/or afternoon practices
- Affords assistance in ensuring scheduled practices begin and end on time
- Affords assistance in fundraising goals
- Affords assistance in coordinating travel arrangements
- Affords assistance in the necessary equipment maintenance and repairs
- Works collaboratively with team officers and coaching staff to develop and achieve program priorities
- Maintains team's positive community standing
- Affords assistance in outreach to alumni to recruit support for the team
- Represents the team in regional or national meetings with other coaches or organizations
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience: Proficient knowledge of Aztec Recreation programs, facilities, and policies required
- Microsoft applications, Aztec Recreation website, and Microsoft applications required
- Knowledge and/or participation of Aztec Recreation programs and facilities preferred
- Licenses & Certifications: American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certifications required (on-line courses are excluded)
- Valid California Drivers' License and proof of automobile insurance are required
- Trainings: Anti-Harassment training (must be completed within 30 days of hire), Workplace Violence Prevention Plan Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Gender Awareness Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Computer Security Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Must complete the California Defensive Driving Course

- Commitment to adhere to all the policies, rules, and regulations of Associated Students/SDSU, Aztec Recreation and Western Women's Lacrosse League (WWLL)
Physical Demands
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to: walking, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in confined space, lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying loads up to 25 pounds. Work may require standing and moving for extended periods.
Relationships
- Inside the Organization: Reports to Competitive Sports Manager; interacts with Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, Competitive Sports Supervisor, Competitive Sport Program Lead, Competitive Sports Office Assistant and Sport Club Site Supervisors; interfaces with other Aztec Recreation Staff, Sport Club Coaches, and Athletic Training Staff
- Outside the Organization: Related University Personnel; Sport Governing Body; Other Universities and Colleges; Professional Organizations
