About the role
The Assistant Coach for the women's club volleyball team will assist with the coordination and operations of the San Diego State University Women's Club volleyball team. This position requires availability for evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all job expectations as outlined in the Associated Students/SDSU Sport Club Coaching Agreement
- Supervises team practices, training, competitions and travel
- Ensures individual and program compliance with all policies and procedures of Associated Students/SDSU and Aztec Recreation
- Affirms safety of all team members, assistant coaches, and equipment is the top priority at all times
- Aids team members in achieving recruiting goals
- Aids in the designs and implementation of practice schedules and training schemes for evening and/or weekend practices
- Affirms scheduled practices begin and end on time
- Aids team members in achieving fundraising goals
- Works with coaches from other programs and sport leagues to coordinate scrimmages and competitions
- Aids in the coordination of travel arrangements
- Collaborates with team officers and administrators to develop and achieve program priorities
- Maintains team's positive community standing
- Aids in the outreach to alumni to recruit support for the team
- Represents the team in regional or national meetings with other coaches or organizations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience: Proficient knowledge of Aztec Recreation programs, facilities, and policies required
- Knowledge: Microsoft applications and Aztec Recreation website required
- Knowledge and/or participation: Aztec Recreation programs and facilities preferred
- Licenses & Certifications: First AID and CPR/AED certifications required (on-line courses are excluded)
- License: Valid California Drivers' License and proof of automobile insurance are required
- Trainings: Anti-Harassment training (must be completed within 30 days of hire), Workplace Violence Prevention Plan Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Gender Awareness Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (Must be completed within 30 days of hire), Attend all mandatory Aztec Recreation/Sport Club Staff meetings and trainings as directed

- Must be able to exercise tact and exhibit sound professional judgment

- Strong organizational skills required
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and follow projects through to completion
- Commitment to adhere to all the policies, rules, and regulations of Associated Students/SDSU, Aztec Recreation and sport leagues

Schedule & Working Conditions
- This is a part-time hourly position
- Flexibility and willingness to work up to 25 hours per week; employee schedules vary according to team needs throughout the academic year

Physical Demands
