Assistant Coach Women's Volleyball
Part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.
About the Role
The Assistant Volleyball Coach will gain hands-on experience across all areas of program operations, including daily practice planning, on-court coaching, positional instruction, scouting reports, game preparation, recruiting support, and student-athlete development. The role offers meaningful responsibility, mentorship from the Head Coach, and exposure to the full scope of NCAA Division III program management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting communication and organization, guiding prospective student-athletes through the admissions process.
- Support strength and conditioning coordination and contribute to administrative and compliance-related tasks.
- Assist with facility operations, including building management, event or practice supervision, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administration.
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that emphasizes intentional training and holistic student-athlete success.
Schedule
Evening and weekend availability required, with an expected commitment of approximately 30+ hours per week during the competitive season. Travel is required for all team events, including training trips, away games, international trips, and recruiting showcases.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- NCAA volleyball playing or coaching experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States (MSMC does not sponsor employment visas).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Recruiting experience.
- Experience coaching a team as a head coach.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation, or on-field recruiting.
- Frequent use of a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Ability to read and view screens for extended periods.
- Regular communication with coworkers and clients in person, over the phone, or via video calls.
- Occasionally lifting or moving items up to 45 pounds, such as office supplies, laptops, or volleyball equipment.
- Periodic reaching or bending to access files, supplies, or equipment.
- Able to stand for 2-4 hours on the volleyball court.
- Walking short distances within the office or to meeting rooms.
