Sports and Recreation Program Specialist Senior

Principle Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate community based sports and recreation programs for people with disabilities.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate all programs.
  • Document program plan and data.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate special events.
  • Support program operations.
  • Administer program application process.
  • Provide registration information and fees to program assistant.
  • Cookordinate travel for staff and volunteers.
  • Travel with youth teams to tournaments.
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and training to volunteers and interns.
  • Serve as a resource to participants, their families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Promote program internally and externally, including media, partners, and community.
  • Develop marketing materials, catalogs, etc., with Marketing and Communications.
  • Present at conferences and events.
  • Participate in fund raising events including publicity, logistics, documentation and evaluation.
  • Interact and build relationships with donors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education.
  • Bachelor's degree in Adaptive Physical Education.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working with people with disabilities, and adaptive sports and recreational activities.
  • 5 to 7 years in Microsoft Office skills especially Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with charitable giving and donor relationships.
  • 5 to 7 years in leadership experience, group facilitation and presentation experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross, Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire), Minnesota Driver's license, Wisconsin Driver's license.

Physical Demands

  • Light Work: Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.

Position Details

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period).
  • 8-hour day/evening/night shifts.
  • Occasional weekends.

Job Duties

  • Specialist Area CKSS (50%): Plan and facilitate the participant experience for the CKSS program, including but not limited to registration, equipment fittings, progress notes, evaluations, assessments, and experiential feedback.
  • Support and facilitate Courage Kenny Ski & Snowboard (CKSS) Volunteer Training and Continuing Education with techniques in line with Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA).
  • Manage incident reporting processes for volunteers, site coordinators, and participants.
  • Coordinate and facilitate adaptive equipment and operations training for partnered ski resorts/areas.
  • Work with ski resorts/areas directly to increase awareness, access, and share impact stories related to CKSS program.
  • Program Specialist General - Sports to be Assigned (50%): Manage additional assigned sports programs year-round (Seasonal Sports outside of the Ski and Snowboard season TBD).
  • Manage assigned sports program logistics: contracts, equipment, facilities, schedule.
  • Cookordinate assigned sports program specific communications.
  • Develop and implement assigned sports program specific recruitment strategies (partnerships and participants).
  • Manage assigned budgets and stay within provided budgeting guidelines.
  • Cookordinate travel logistics for assigned sports programs.
  • Manage sports specific participants, volunteers, coaches and Site Coordinators.
  • Recruit, retain & recognize participants and volunteers for assigned sports programs.
