Sport Club Assistant Coach: Women’s Water Polo

About the role

The Assistant Women's Water Polo coach will assist the Head Coach in supervising the competitive water polo program. Responsibilities include teaching, administrative tasks, and coordinating with other programs and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure individual and program compliance with Associated Students/SDSU and Aztec Recreation policies
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure participant and equipment safety
  • Represent the team and Associated Students/SDSU professionally
  • Collaborate with team officers and administrators to achieve program goals
  • Aid in team recruiting and practice scheduling
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Maintain positive community relations and recruit alumni support
  • Understand and comply with CWPA and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Participate in regional or national meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Aztec Recreation programs, facilities, and policies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications and Aztec Recreation website
  • Knowledge and/or participation in Aztec Recreation programs and facilities
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification required
  • Valid California Drivers' License and proof of automobile insurance required
  • Completion of anti-harassment, workplace violence prevention, gender awareness, sexual harassment prevention, computer security, and defensive driving courses

  • Capable of exercising tact and making sound professional judgments
  • Exhibits good judgment and diplomacy in handling difficult situations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Follows oral and written directions and completes projects to completion
  • Adheres to policies, rules, and regulations of Associated Students/SDSU, Aztec Recreation, and sport leagues

Schedule & Working Conditions

This is a part-time position averaging 10-15 hours per week, with flexibility to work up to 25 hours per week based on team needs.

Physical Demands

  • Walking, bending, stooping, climbing, standing, and moving for extended periods
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling loads up to 25 pounds

Relationships

  • Reports to Competitive Sports Manager
  • Interacts with various Aztec Recreation departments and staff
  • Interfaces with other coaches, administrators, and alumni
