Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Sequence Self-Perform Operations (SPO) concrete work to meet project schedule and estimated productivity; communicate schedule with project super to incorporate SPO activities, durations, and flow into project schedule.
  • Establish production requirements with Trades Foreperson and measure results weekly.
  • Adjust work practices and crew assignments to increase production where possible.
  • Monitor and report installed quantities and percentage of completion for SPO concrete tasks and share findings at scheduled production meetings.
  • Monitor jobsite delivered for approved materials at the time and quantities as defined in project schedule.
  • Aid General Superintendent and/or Trades Manager with hiring and termination decisions related to Trade labor.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with labor sources (e.g., Union, Third-party) and individual craft employees and oversee work to promote coordinated project operations.
  • Plan, communicate, and implement performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Cookordination work with Foreperson and Superintendents from other trades that interact with concrete structure and sequence.
  • Resolve local area problems related to procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor, and equipment schedule.
  • Develop and implement SPO safety plan in compliance with company standards, safety codes, and regulations.
  • Select appropriate formwork for each structure application to enhance quality, safety, and work production.
  • Make available Job Hazard Analysis to Forepersons to enable quality daily pre-task planning.
  • Serve as supervisor and overseer of Trade forepersons; provide constructive development feedback and contribute to completion of performance appraisals.
  • Communicate work plan, schedule, and project deadlines clearly to Trades foreperson, staff, and crew.
  • Foster clean, respectful, and organized work environment to motivate and inspire staff and crew to perform and meet/exceed project milestones.
  • Maintain productivity of staff and crew and proactively confirm materials and equipment on jobsite.
  • Investigate, communicate, and resolve field issues with Owners, Owner’s Representatives, Architects, and/or Engineers.
  • Manage monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Manage installation of work in compliance with approved contract documents.
  • Monitor and confirm accuracy of take-off work and manage procurement of materials.
  • Assist in bidding work to review productivity and approach for executing the work.
  • Analyze drawings to identify specified components that may cause construction constraints to be resolved.
  • Utilize lean construction methods such as Last Planner System(LPS) for proactive scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing as Superintendent managing work as a specialty contractor focusing on concrete, or experience as a Trades or General foreperson.
  • Experience managing work as concrete superintendent with portfolio of completed structures.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of concrete structure and related tools and equipment required by this trade.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with various formwork systems.
  • Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract understanding, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, and Trade practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) practices.
  • Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop understanding of requirements.
  • Proficient skills in project management, able to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership management skills with ability to forge relationships with stakeholders and indirect reports.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills, able to present information clearly.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
