Responsibilities

• Support the United States Postal Service (USPS).
• Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises and cloud based Splunk environments to support enterprise-level monitoring, alerting, and reporting.
• Collaborate across DevOps, Security, and IT teams to optimize performance, ensure data integrity, system availability, and support mission-critical operations.
• Manage knowledge objects (fields, extractions, tags, event types, lookups, workflow actions, aliases, macros, and so on) through automations, scripting, management server functions, and .conf/.cfg files.
• Write complex Splunk queries, dashboards, and alerts using SPL.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex data ingestion and parsing issues.
• Develop and implement automation workflows and dashboard interfaces.
• Translate research insights into practical solutions that address real-world challenges.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and guide junior researchers or team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Splunk experience.
• Experience managing knowledge objects in Splunk.
• Experience with Splunk deployment and configuration management in large-scale environments.
• Proficiency in writing complex Splunk queries, dashboards, and alerts using SPL.
• Experience with REST APIs for Splunk and external system integration.
• Experience analyzing and troubleshooting complex data ingestion and parsing issues.
• Experience designing and developing automation workflows and dashboard interfaces.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate research insights into practical solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in mentoring and guiding junior researchers or team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, preferred but not required.
• Additional 4 years of relevant work experience if lacking a relevant college degree.
• Public Trust/MBI (T2) clearance level.
• Must currently possess a Public Trust/MBI (T2) clearance level.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust/MBI (T2) clearance level.
• US Citizenship required.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $111,155 - $150,385. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
