Essential Functions

• Operates an abrasive wheel cut-off saw to produce split Klozure packing to customer and company specification.
• Performs setup and adjustment of cut-off saw; interprets prints, sketches, and specifications; the usage of micrometers, ring gauges, circumference (pi) tapes, calipers and similar instruments.
• Cuts, deburrs, stamps and finishes packing stock which may be in strip form or in solid ring form with right- or left-hand scarf cut as ordered.
• Uses guillotine type cutter or a miter box with hammer and hand knife on certain items.
• Dresses and changes abrasive cut-off wheels as necessary.
• Performs the following with respects to Model 59 seals: operator verifies trimming correctness, butt cut joint, files burrs from spring, cleans surfaces, applies adhesives, places into shell, checks lip alignment once in shell, loads shells into oven, properly cures in oven, removes element from shell after cure, buffs surfaces, smooths and inspects. Corrects all workable defects.
• Performs additional responsibilities within this position: the receipt, inventorying and releasing of non-common Klozure splits. Works from order files and communicates status of these splits to production control and supervision personnel.
• Operates and sets-up lathe to trim cross section of OD of split Klozure seal.
• May prepare product for shipment as required.
• Performs hot splicing of elements as needed.
• Tracks and changes air filters on dust collectors as needed.
• Cuts sheet stock on straight sheer to make filler strips as called on by the router and needed to make a good product.
• Performs cycle counts of items that may be in stock. Consumes the short pieces of strip stock through production job in order to control inventory.
• Communicates with the trim team about element needs especially at the strip grinder.

• Able to use various measuring instruments.

Job Specifications

• Must be able to read sketches, micrometers, circumference tape, calipers and similar instruments.
• Some basic math skills required.
