The mission of SPIRITUS Ministries is to inspire young Catholics to spread the Gospel and renew the Church! Our two main goals are to inspire thousands of young Catholics and form young adults to be lifelong missionary disciples and leaders for the Church. SPIRITUS is a fast growing evangelization ministry. SPIRITUS missionaries work out of our retreat center and area parishes. They travel throughout Wisconsin evangelizing over 5,000 Catholic youth to grow in faith and follow Jesus.
Position Summary
The Director of Discipleship advances the mission of SPIRITUS by forming missionary disciples and developing initiatives that help Catholics grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and confidently share their faith with others. As a member of the SPIRITUS Formation Team, the Director of Discipleship helps form missionaries to live out their calling with holiness, maturity, and missionary zeal, with particular responsibility for mentoring male missionaries and overseeing SPIRITUS interns. The Director also leads and develops discipleship initiatives, builds relationships with diocesan and parish leaders, and supports the growth of SPIRITUS through outreach, recruiting, and development efforts.

- Master's Degree in Theology, Discipleship or related ministry field

- Creative and innovative in developing new ministry initiatives
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative
- Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities
- Strong communicator and confident public speaker
- Collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented
- Experience in youth ministry, discipleship, missionary formation, or Catholic ministry preferred
Responsibilities
- Missionary Formation: Serve on the Formation Team, helping missionaries grow in holiness.
- Missionary Mentoring: Provide intentional mentoring, encouragement, accountability, and formation for male missionaries to help them succeed throughout their mission year.
- Retreat Ministry: Assist in developing retreats and training missionaries to lead dynamic, faith-filled retreat experiences at our retreat center, parishes, and Catholic schools throughout Wisconsin.
- Intern Leadership and Training: Oversee and develop SPIRITUS internship program including, Youth Ministry, Discipleship, and Social Media interns, training them for their specific ministry tasks.
- Discipleship Interns (SUMMIT) - Provide leadership and direction for the SUMMIT Discipleship initiative, working closely with the Youth Discipleship Coordinator to train leaders, plan programming, and strengthen its impact on young people.
- Youth Ministry Interns - Coach and mentor parish youth ministry leaders as opportunities and availability allow.
- Mission Outreach: Diocesan and Parish Relationships - Promote SPIRITUS retreats, SUMMIT, discipleship opportunities, and other initiatives to clergy, educators, parents, youth, and Catholic leaders.
- Discipleship Initiatives: Develop and promote new discipleship training, resources, and initiatives that equip Catholics in parishes and schools to grow as disciples and confidently share their faith with others.
- Development: Build relationships with benefactors, prospective supporters, parishes, and organizations to strengthen partnerships and advance the mission of SPIRITUS.
- Missionary Recruitment: Support missionary recruitment efforts, including outreach, relationship-building, events, and follow-up with prospective missionaries.
- Mission Growth: Help identify, develop, and implement new initiatives and partnerships that expand the reach and impact of SPIRITUS Ministries.
