About the role

Long recognized as experts in high-performance metal forming technologies, Spincraft delivers single-source manufacturing solutions that solve complex challenges. Components and assemblies produced in this role are used in advanced space launch vehicles, commercial and military aircraft, nuclear submarines, critical defense systems, land-based gas turbines, and more.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Spinner operates and monitors spinning machinery to produce metal components according to production specifications while maintaining quality standards, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine operation requirements
  • Operate CNC and hand spin lathes under supervision to meet desired specifications
  • Determine and select necessary spin tools (chucks, rollers, trimming tools) for production
  • Measure and mark cutting/trimming lines on parts using measuring instruments, scribers, or marking pens
  • Install and align machine accessories (rollers, tailstock, headstock)
  • Cut and trim parts by controlling movement of secured parts or entering preprogrammed commands
  • Measure dimensions of finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, or check fixtures
  • Operate and control torch/heat input to achieve desired material temperature
  • Trim, sand, and drill parts using shop equipment as needed
  • Perform daily/weekly maintenance on spinning equipment (oil, clean, inspection)
  • Execute Company Process Control (PC) instructions and provide feedback for revisions
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Support organization goals by improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)
  • Train others by sharing knowledge and expertise with the team
  • Complete job assignments as directed by the Manufacturing Manager
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits

Safety

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Comply with all company, federal, state, and local safety rules and practices
  • Use personal protective equipment and devices as required
  • Report all unsafe conditions, accidents, and injuries immediately to management

Housekeeping

  • Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the company
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting actions, irregularities, and needs
  • Store and maintain tools, equipment, and gauges according to company standards
  • Keep work area clean and organized to company standards (daily cleaning, sweeping, trash removal)
  • Remove personal items from workstations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capable of following directions and taking responsibility for production efficiency and quality
  • Demonstrate customer focus by understanding and responding to internal/external needs
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly
  • Proactively solve problems and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
  • Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
