Speech Therapist (Per Diem)

About the Role

Assesses patients and establishes appropriate treatment plans based on diagnosis and professional standards. Provides treatment using specific modalities and techniques, documents care accurately, and communicates with team members. Participates in continuous improvement and education activities.

Responsibilities

• Following department guidelines and ASHA standards, provides direct patient care, including assessment and treatment, developing and carrying out individualized treatment programs.
• Incorporates age-specific guidelines and interprets standardized diagnostic tests using evidence-based training.
• Establishes and documents functional limitations, measurable goals with timelines, and progress on goals or home practice information.
• Seeks input from patients regarding goals and progress to ensure standards of care.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment at various stages, makes adjustments to achieve maximum benefit, or initiates discharges and referrals.
• Communicates with the referring physician, including obtaining certification of the plan of care when necessary.
• Provides patient and/or family member with appropriate education to enhance knowledge and fully benefit from interventions.
• Assists with department finances through accurate daily billing practices and active daily maintenance of the patient care schedule.
• Participates in team and hospital-wide meetings, committees, and initiatives as assigned.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Current license to practice Speech Therapy in the State of California.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
• Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) certification preferred for inpatient speech therapist roles.
• Prefer 3 years of experience as a Speech, Language Pathologist.

Pay

Generally starting at $53.57 - $72.11 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
