Essential Job Functions
- Counsels patients and their families on the importance of speech therapy.
- Administers speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
- Identifies and recommends communication devices and aids as needed.
- Communicates with referring physicians and other healthcare personnel to coordinate care.
- Participates in case conferences, inservices, and other meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
- Prepares and submits detailed notes according to organizational policies.
- Maintains clinical competency in speech-language pathology practice and theory.
- Assesses and addresses the patient's and family/caregiver's needs for additional services.
- Instructs patients, family/caregivers, and other healthcare personnel about the treatment plan.
- Supervises home health aides in procedures related to the speech-language therapy plan.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
- At least one (1) year of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed/Certified in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid driver’s license with a vehicle insured in compliance with state and/or organization requirements.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs occasionally.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
- Kneeling, stooping, bending, and reaching as needed.
- Lifting and moving up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
- Adjusting focus as necessary.
