Speech Therapist - Clinical Fellow (CF)

Responsibilities

• Complete a minimum of 36 weeks (for full-time employment) Clinical Fellowship while being supervised and mentored by a licensed, ASHA-certified SLP.
• Complete all requirements for provisional licensure, if applicable to the state, and practice in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards for the duration of the provisional license and Clinical Fellowship. If no provisional licensure in the state, meet the supervision requirements set forth by CMS for patients with Medicare for the duration of the Clinical Fellowship.
• Communicate status of Clinical Fellowship and licensure to direct supervisor and Director of Rehab in a timely manner, including completion of required documentation and receipt of CCC and permanent license.
• Not eligible to provide supervision to students during the Clinical Fellowship.
• Meet productivity standards for the rehab gym, or as directed by the Director of Rehab/Clinical Operations Area Director.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
• Adapt program and/or plan of care according to the needs of the individual patient.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.
• Prioritize Patient Service, ensuring residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures. Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine predicted level of improvement, identify precautions/contraindications, and design a plan of care. Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers, implement the speech-language pathology treatment plan, and complete all related documentation and record keeping. Services include but are not limited to therapeutic techniques in areas such as:

• Coordinate the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instruct patients in their use.
• Facilitate identification of hearing deficits and appropriately refer for assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and/or personal amplification.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in the skills and techniques required for participation in therapeutic activities, and evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexamination as needed/required to modify or progress the plan of treatment.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Possess a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or a similarly titled area consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Licensed, certified, or credentialed as required in the state of practice.

Pay

USD $39.00 - USD $41.00 per hour.
