Speech Therapist

About the role

The Speech Therapist at Pilot Butte Rehab Center evaluates and treats residents and patients with speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities, following state and federal guidelines. This position involves planning and administering medically prescribed speech therapy treatments, evaluating speech and language skills, and preparing and documenting treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
• Reviews referral, physician’s orders, patient’s condition, and medical records to determine speech therapy treatment indicated.
• Accepts physician orders regarding speech therapy services.
• Performs initial patient evaluations before initiating therapy.
• Performs and documents OASIS assessments at appropriate time points.
• Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of patient data in conjunction with the physician, patient, and caregiver(s).
• Plans and conducts rehabilitative treatment plans to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and non-organic etiology.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of speech pathology and language disorders.
• Licensed as a speech-language pathologist by the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology or the Accrediting Body.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced, family-like environment is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
