Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs for speech therapy in a timely fashion; complete initial evaluation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department
- Document patient care efficiently and effectively
- Develop and maintain long- and short-term treatment goals that are functional and measurable for each patient
- Re-evaluate and modify treatment programs as warranted
- Instruct patients, families, nurses, and other caregivers in appropriate diet consistencies, swallowing strategies, cognitive strategies, and communication techniques
- Integrate information, prioritize needs, and involve patient/family in the planning process
- Utilize the most appropriate form of treatment provided with the highest level of care
- Perform other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, families, and physicians
- Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Master’s Degree from an Accredited Program in Speech-Language Pathology
- Experience: One year of clinical experience; acute care modified swallow experience
- Licensure/Certification: Current licensure in the State of Arizona; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or documented acceptance into a Clinical Fellowship year; CPR
