Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs for speech therapy in a timely fashion; complete initial evaluation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department
• Document patient care efficiently and effectively
• Develop and maintain long- and short-term treatment goals that are functional and measurable for each patient
• Re-evaluate and modify treatment programs as warranted
• Instruct patients, families, nurses, and other caregivers in appropriate diet consistencies, swallowing strategies, cognitive strategies, and communication techniques
• Integrate information, prioritize needs, and involve patient/family in the planning process
• Utilize the most appropriate form of treatment provided with the highest level of care
• Perform other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, families, and physicians
• Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Master’s Degree from an Accredited Program in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Experience: One year of clinical experience; acute care modified swallow experience
  • Licensure/Certification: Current licensure in the State of Arizona; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or documented acceptance into a Clinical Fellowship year; CPR
