Speech Pathologist (SLP) Acute Care PRN

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), PRN to join our Acute Care team. This role is PRN/as needed, requiring at least 5 weekend shifts per quarter, 1 weekday day per month, and 1 holiday coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
  • Complete all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit while demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
  • Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Select evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group, and physical/emotional status of patients, and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences Disorders accredited by ASHA.
  • Experience: New Graduate Speech Language Pathologist eligible for clinical fellowship.
  • Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association required upon start.
  • Licensure: VA Speech Language Pathologist License required upon start or Provisional VA license accepted if candidate is being considered for Clinical Fellowship. Must be eligible for full active VA licensure upon completion of CFY.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of Speech Pathologist (SLP) experience in the acute care setting.
