Speech Pathologist (SLP) Acute Care PRN

About the Role

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Acute Care team. This position requires at least 2 weekend shifts per month and 1 minor and 1 major holiday per year. Some weekday availability is required for training and orientation.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
• Complete all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit while demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
• Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Select evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group, and physical/emotional status of patients, and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences Disorders accredited by ASHA.
• New Graduate Speech Language Pathologist eligible for clinical fellowship.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.
• Virginia Speech Language Pathologist License required upon start or Provisional Virginia license accepted if candidate is being considered for Clinical Fellowship (must be eligible for full active Virginia licensure upon completion of CFY).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of Speech Pathologist (SLP) experience in the acute care setting.
