Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Evaluates and develops therapeutic plans to address oral motor, communication, and feeding needs of the PWS and provides Speech and Language Habilitation/Rehabilitation services for the patient as ordered by a physician.
- Treats people we support (PWS) with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to the area of Speech-Language Pathology.
- Makes use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to prevent regression or restore maximum performance of speech and language modalities.
- Plans, directs and supervises PWS, family and/or significant others in the use of equipment and exercise regimen.
- Participates in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning for individual patient needs.
- Completes contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records.
- Keeps track of hours, meets with direct supervisor, and ensures their adherence to the protocols for their clinical fellowship.
- Follows the scope of practice as outlined by the National Organization, American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and consistent with New York State Education Department (NYSED) supervised experience requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Graduate degree in speech-language pathology from a New York State registered licensure qualifying program, a program accredited by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or the equivalent (as determined by NYS Education Department).
- Willingness to take initiative.
- Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
- Highly flexible personality type.
Preferred Qualification Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of any of the following:
- AAC/AT and communication applications
- oral motor structures and function
- about swallowing and feeding issues
- working with individuals with complex physical and communication delays
- Experience with intellectual and developmental delays
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records, ideally Next-Gen.
Compensation
$70,000/year and upon successful completion of CFY and obtaining professional licensure with NY state yearly salary will increase to $75,000/year
