About the Role

Responsible for providing communication therapy services, participating in initial and ongoing team assessments, and delivering home and center-based training for children and their families. Engages in case management activities, conducts in-service training for colleagues, and serves as a specialty resource for team members and their caseloads.

Responsibilities

  • Provides specific therapy procedures planned and directed by the licensed professional.
  • Conducts carry-over activities, language stimulation, and other activities deemed appropriate by the licensed professional.
  • Performs speech, language, and hearing screenings and assessments with appropriate supervision.
  • Provides supportive services to Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) team members as needed.
  • Assists with the transitioning of children in an organized fashion.
  • Performs necessary documentation, maintains current and accurate records, and prepares clinical materials.
  • Provides in-service training to program staff and ongoing training for parents, guardians, or other caregivers as directed.
  • Delivers communication therapy services in natural environments and classroom settings inclusively.
  • Completes 85% delivery of planned services while establishing rapport to minimize no-shows and cancellations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) to three (3) or more years of pediatric experience.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Disorders with a minimum of 24 hours in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Licensed as an Assistant Speech/Language Pathologist in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of 25 hours in clinical observation and clinical assisting, obtained in an educational institution or one of its cooperating programs.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and auto liability insurance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical.

Skills

  • Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, especially in emergencies.
  • Flexibility to work irregular schedules and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Light to medium physical duties, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking, kneeling, floor sitting, pulling, grasping, pushing, stooping, climbing, and occasional running.
  • Ability to move with agility to carry out Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) services.
  • Must be able to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
  • Ability to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and other environmental factors.
