About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist - Weekend at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is responsible for providing direct patient care, assessing and treating swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders. This role covers a wide range of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorder, and related disorders, as well as services for speech, language, and swallowing in pediatric to geriatric patient populations. Collaboration with other healthcare providers and families is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders
• Cover a variety of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorder, and related disorders
• Provide services for speech, language, and swallowing in pediatric to geriatric patient populations
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers and families
• Prepare and maintain patient care documentation in a timely manner

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology
• NYS licensure in Speech Pathology
• Clinical certification in Speech Pathology (or its equivalent)
• Completion of clinical fellowship year required
• BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment
