Speech Language Pathologist (Soaring Heights Schools)

About the Role

Provides direct, consultative, and supportive diagnostic and therapeutic services for communication and oral motor disorders to students and staff members to enhance individual potential for learning and meet the specific needs of students. Offers service, treatment, and intervention in accordance with regulations and standards defined by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), HIPAA, Individual Education Plan (IEP), and Soaring Heights Schools policies.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a team approach to program development, implementation, and monitoring by collaborating with specialty/clinical disciplines, parents/guardians, and school staff to identify and meet individual communication needs of each student.
• Perform evaluations and assessments for students per IEP mandates.
• Author goals and objectives for each student served.
• Communicate results of assessments to all members of the IEP team.
• Recommend assistive technology for students needing enhanced supports for effective communication development.
• Recommend levels of direct and indirect services to best support and achieve IEP goals and objectives.
• Maintain ongoing case documentation as required.
• Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best practices in SLP service delivery.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) required, or eligibility to participate as a clinical fellow (supervision for clinical fellowship is available).
• Minimum of one year of work experience in communication and oral motor therapy preferred, though not required, particularly with developmentally disabled students.
