Role Overview
Evaluates and treats patients of all ages with speech and feeding impairments, serving as a professional role model and clinical resource for staff and students.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field
- Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) by the applicable state authority
- BLS certification within 30 days
- Must complete continuing education on acute stroke care
Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of speech, language, and feeding functions using standardized tests and appropriate materials
- Develops and implements individualized treatment plans with measurable goals in collaboration with patients and caregivers
- Interprets assessment data to recommend suitable interventions and develop care strategies
- Evaluates feeding and swallowing impairments, providing education on home programs
- Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, including PT/OT, to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintains daily documentation in therapy EMR and completes annual clinical ladder requirements, including supervision and training of students
