Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – K-5

About the role

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Salem School District will provide direct clinical services, comprehensive evaluations, AAC implementation, multidisciplinary consultation, intervention support, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality individual and small-group therapy to students with diverse needs, ensuring services align with IEP goals and objectives.
• Congduct initial and triennial speech and language evaluations, including standardized testing and informal observations, to determine eligibility and instructional needs.
• Support students with complex communication needs through the selection, programming, and implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
• Collaborate consistently with General Education teachers, Special Education teachers, and Related Services providers to ensure communication strategies are generalized across all school environments.
• Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process by providing pre-referral consultation and short-term interventions for students struggling with foundational communication.
• Actively engage with the district-wide SLP cohort to standardize practices, share clinical insights, and support peer-led professional development.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and Medicaid billing (if applicable).

Requirements

• Certification/Licensure: Must hold (or be eligible for) a valid New Hampshire License in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the OPLC.
• NHDOE Endorsement: Must hold (or be eligible for) NHDOE Endorsement #0082 (Speech-Language Specialist).
• Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.

Qualifications

• Exceptional ability to explain clinical findings to parents and staff in an accessible, empathetic manner.
• Proficiency in differential diagnosis of childhood communication disorders.
