Speech Language Pathologist SLP

Job Summary

The Speech Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech or language disorders, and formulate individualized treatment programs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, hearing, cognitive, or swallowing issues.
• Under a physician’s direction, provide direct patient/resident treatment based on an established plan of care.
• Screen and evaluate residents and develop appropriate care plans.
• Plan, direct, or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency for individuals with communication, swallowing, or cognitive problems.
• Administer, score, and interpret specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instruct residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
• Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
• Maintain patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Devise special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited master's or doctorate program in Speech‑Language Pathology.
• State license as a speech pathologist.
• Knowledge and skills to care for the needs of the skilled‑nursing‑facility (SNF) population.
• Problem‑solving skills to successfully perform the job.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, patients, and family members.
• Ability to travel as needed to perform the job.
• Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards.
